Tate Liverpool
Albert Dock, Liverpool

The gallery often hosts special exhibitions of contemporary art which require unique settings. The Charles Evans team have built walls, screens and display cabinets as well as putting in plinths, ceilings and doors - on each project they have worked closely with the gallery to put together the best backdrop for the new exhibition.

One particularly challenging project was the presentation of Damien Hirst's Prodigal Son. The artwork included two glass tanks that each contained half a calf in formaldehyde. Charles Evans had the unusual and very necessary job of building a robust false floor on which to situate the tanks. This provided a safe way of collecting the formaldehyde, should there have been any leakage.
